A shared chore app for everyone you live with
Sharing a home means sharing the chores, and that's where a lot of arguments start. Benny gives everyone in your home the same chore list and schedule, so you can all see who's doing what, what's done, and what's still waiting.
How shared homes work
Create a home in Benny and invite the people you live with. Add your chores room by room, from a preset list or your own, and assign each one to a specific person. Make the regular ones recurring, on whatever interval suits them, so they come back on the schedule by themselves.
It works across iPhone and Android, so it doesn't matter which phone each person has. From then on, everyone sees the same thing: what's assigned to whom, what's done, and what still needs doing. No more group-chat reminders about the trash.

For roommates
With roommates, the hard part is rarely the cleaning. It's agreeing on who does what, and then remembering it a month later. Agree on the split once, put it in Benny, and the schedule keeps track from there. If one person keeps getting the worst jobs, you can see it and swap them.
Haven't agreed on a split yet? Our guide to splitting chores with roommates fairly walks through five ways to divide them, with sample splits for two and three people.
For couples
In a lot of homes, one person ends up remembering everything: when the sheets were last changed, that the fridge needs clearing out, that the bathroom is overdue. That planning is work too, even when it doesn't look like it.
A shared chore list makes it visible. When you can both see every chore and who it belongs to, it's easier to share the load without one of you keeping score in your head.
For families
Give everyone at home their own chores, each with a timer, so “clean your room” becomes 15 minutes with a clear finish line. Finished chores earn Sponge Points that level up a virtual pet hamster, which feels more like a game than a nag.
With Benny Premium, custom effort points let bigger jobs count for more, so mowing the lawn doesn't score the same as feeding the cat.

Tips for a split that lasts
- Agree on what “done” means. “Clean the bathroom” means different things to different people. Agree on it together before anyone starts.
- Rotate the jobs nobody wants. Reassign the worst chores each week so no one is stuck with them for good.
- Keep personal chores off the shared list. Your own room and your own laundry are yours. The shared list is for shared spaces.
- Check in after a few weeks. Look at what's getting done and what isn't, and adjust the split.
Free and Premium
Shared homes are free: invite the people you live with and assign chores to each of them. Benny Premium, an optional subscription through the App Store or Google Play, is for managing more than one home, and adds custom effort points, snooze and skip with streak protection, holiday and sick mode, and no ads.
Questions
- Is there a free chore app for roommates?
- Yes. Benny is free to download on iPhone and Android, with ads. You can create a shared home, invite your roommates, and assign chores in the free app.
- Does it work if some of us have iPhones and some have Android?
- Yes. Benny is on both iPhone and Android, and a shared home works across both, so everyone can join no matter which phone they use.
- Can everyone see who's doing what?
- Yes. Everyone in a shared home sees the same chores and schedule, including who each chore is assigned to and what's already done.
- Can we set chores to repeat?
- Yes. Any chore can be one-off or recurring, on whatever interval suits it, so regular jobs like the trash or the bathroom come back on the schedule by themselves.
- What do Sponge Points do?
- You earn Sponge Points by finishing chores. They level up your virtual pet hamster and buy accessories in the in-app shop.
