Benny

A chore schedule app that keeps up, so you don't have to

Most cleaning plans fall apart in the gap between knowing a chore needs doing and remembering to do it. Benny closes that gap. Add your chores once, choose which ones repeat, and Benny puts them on a schedule and reminds you when each one is due.

Set it up once, room by room

Pick a room, then add chores to it. Start from a preset list for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom or living room, or write your own. Organizing by room means you can see at a glance what's left in each part of the house.

Each chore can be one-off, for things like clearing out the garage before a move, or recurring, for the jobs that never go away. You choose the interval: every day, every three days, every other week, once a month, or whatever fits the chore. Set it up once and it comes back on the schedule by itself.

See what's due today and what's coming up

The schedule shows what's due today and what's next, so you can fit a chore into a free 15 minutes instead of saving everything for Saturday. When a chore is due, Benny sends you a reminder.

If you share your home, everyone sees the same schedule, including who each chore is assigned to. More on that on the shared chores page.

What to put on your chore schedule

Not sure where to start? This is a common starting point for a small home. Add the ones that fit, skip the ones that don't, and adjust after a couple of weeks.

  • Daily: wash the dishes, wipe the kitchen counters, a 10-minute tidy of the living room.
  • Every few days: take out the trash and recycling, wipe the bathroom sink.
  • Weekly: clean the toilet and shower, vacuum or mop the floors, change the sheets, dust the main surfaces.
  • Monthly: clean out the fridge, wash the shower curtain or wipe down the glass, dust vents and baseboards.

Timers make every chore smaller

“Clean the kitchen” is easy to put off because it has no clear end. In Benny, every chore can have a timer, so it becomes “20 minutes on the kitchen” instead. Start the timer, work until it runs out, and tap finished.

Short, timed chores fit around work and the rest of your day, and a routine of small chores is easier to keep than one big cleaning day.

A reason to keep going

A schedule only works if you keep following it. Every chore you finish earns Sponge Points, which level up your virtual pet hamster and buy accessories in the in-app shop. It's a small reward, but it gives you a reason to do the chore today instead of tomorrow.

When life gets in the way

Some weeks don't go to plan. Benny Premium, an optional subscription, adds tools for those weeks:

  • Snooze or skip a chore, with streak protection.
  • Holiday and sick mode, for when you're away or unwell.
  • Smart chores based on a daily mood check-in.
  • Home-screen widgets and chore and room filters.

The schedule itself, reminders and timers are all in the free app.
